Fashion - Beauty and a whole lotta fun! That’s exactly how we kickstarted the 21st Season of Kansas City Fashion Week . I have lost track of the number of seasons I have covered KCFW as official media, but every season is special in its own way! From designer previews to the click of the wine glasses, from the sound of laughter to the excitement of the week ahead - The Media Night of KCFW at Ulta Beauty was all this and more!
So what inspires a runway collection? Let’s see what some of our KCFW designers had to say about their new season:
Blue Orchid Art Jewelry- Multiculturalism. KCFW is such a wonderful platform to meet new and old faces. It was so wonderful to meet jewelry designer Lan, who mentioned her journey across the globe and how it inspired her wearable art - her jewelry line! This will be the first time that she will be showing at KCFW!
Little Jo Designs- Gothic. Jo Hartley is a favorite of mine, and it's no secret. I love how she creates drama and romance through her designs. While her last collection was inspired by fairy tales, Jo mentioned that her latest collection is all Goth-inspired. Dresses with camo boots - I am on board!
Jeanne Nuagge - Dressing Every Woman. Designer Jennifer Tierney finds the perfect balance of fashion and comfort. She mentioned how she took a break from one season of runway shows, to listen to her audience. She wanted to dress every woman. So in her runway show, her youngest model is 11 while her oldest is 60, and Jennifer will be dressing them in her signature style!
Reduce Fashion - Sustainable Fashion. It's always refreshing to hear about sustainability in fashion! The designers of Reduce - Katie & Hannah, mentioned how they were inspired by quilting patterns and re-using and re-imagining fabrics.
Regal Status- 90s Hip Hop . Who doesn't love the bling and fashion of 90s hip hop?
Uzuri Closet - Re-imagining What We Wear To A Ball
KCFW runway shows return to Union Station KC from Wednesday, August 31 to Saturday, September 3. Tickets are available on the website if you wanted to be a part of one of the biggest weeks of fashion, in the Midwest!
Thank you, Eli Stack, Alex Todd, Deni Mahoney, and Katie Van Luchine for my photos from the event.
