KCFW FW'21 : WEDNESDAY NIGHT RUNWAY - A RECAP

It's time for some runway recaps of the recently concluded Kansas City Fashion Week! I am often asked why don't I post while the shows are going on - well, thats when I am taking my notes and getting it all together, for all of you to read later. Let's start with Wednesday night of runway shows of KCFW FW'21! I was back at an in-person runway show after 2 1/3 years. It was so much fun to soak in all the front-row energy and scope out runway trends, of what's hot and what's not this Fall-Winter. The runway shows were held in a parking lot, at Oak Park Mall, which has been a long-time sponsor of KC's biggest fashion event - Kansas City Fashion Week. 

J Manning Fashions kickstarted this season of KCFW. Loved the structured details of her collection. From leather patches to quilted accents, from LBDs to wide-leg pants, she had an impressive lineup. She has been training under Pamela Lucas and has already shown at KCFW twice. 

The second designer for the evening was Spacecamp Studios. Rebecca Holler is a fashion designer, music producer, model, and photographer based out of Kansas City, MO. She has participated in two seasons of KCFW as a model and decided to return for another season, this time as a designer. Drama on the runway was clearly brought on by Spacecamp Studios. leather details, a touch of velour, emphasis on cutouts, and a very feminine silhouette, sum up Rebecca Holler's collection.

The Third designer of the evening was Justine Christine. Lauren O'Bannon is a self-taught seamstress who loves putting her skills to the test. A small sewing project at the beginning of the pandemic sparked her love for designing fashion pieces. Today, she continues to challenge herself with every stitch, making sure her next piece is better than her last. The fabrics and their play of textures were clearly a head-turner.

The 4th designer of the evening was HMJ Style! Hannah Jensen is thrilled to be showing her Fall/Winter Collection for the first time at Kansas City Fashion Week! Bold colors, pattern mixing, and so much more! There was a touch of fairytale and vintage in her collection which made me fall in love with patterns and textures!

Meghann Wheelock's ready-to-wear line with GoEx Apparel had an emphasis on sustainability and ethical fashion. Meghan had previously showcased her former kidswear line - Ethel and Dean at KCFW. GoExApparel has so much of that charm.

Regal Status by Princess Elliott at KCFW had your Fall-Winter dreams on steroids. The plaid, the gold embroidery, the state sleeves were awe-inspiring. The brand was created to inspire the female consciousness which allows her spirit to shine. Enhancing the outer beauty for the purpose of empowering her inner being. With ready-to-wear pieces as its core unique selling position.

If you had doubts whether monochromes were still on-trend, then take a cue from Regal Status.

From The Bottom is ready to dress the whole family in the hottest trends of FW'21. You definitely have this mom-blogger excited to shop your collection. Zawadi Bahati is a 28-year-old designer with his own brand, "From The Bottom". This urban apparel line is inspired by the struggle, representing underdogs all over the world who know that just because you start at the bottom that doesn't have to be where you finish.

A designer who loves Dolly Parton as much as I do- you know she had my attention. Wednesday night of runway shows of KCFW closed with Devil Doll by Audrey Lockwood. Sparkle, fringe, western-chic, and out and out glam wrapped up the last show of the night! Take a bow Devil Doll Audrey.
