And it was time for the Final Day of Kansas City Fashion Week Spring Summer'16.As they say, last but no way, the least. It all started with a Reception by Ulta at Harvey's Restaurant at the Union Station. Sipping on some signature cocktails and sharing some giggles with my fellow bloggers, the evening rolled on surely in high spirits. Armed with a handsome swag bag, it was time to rush for the Runway Shows closeby.
And some more posing at the Step and Repeat !!
Our seats were different every day, which meant that you got to meet new people and chat about all things fashion with a new perspective every day. For the last day, my partner in crime was the beautiful blogger Dana Allison Hill of LouiseinLeopard. She is such a warm person and I really love her sense of style And she too loves Cat Eye Glasses like me.
Speaking of the designers for the Final Day, the line up included all Designers based in Kansas City.
My Top Picks would be Lucia's Sarto, Alicia Janesko and Heidi Hermann.
Blogger Dana Allison -Hill The Final Day of Runway Shows began with ArchiTexture by the husband wife design team of John and Christina Moncke. Womenswear with a dash of spunk, with matching goggles and the ongoing trend of metallic lips. The color palette was very cool toned. |
Katie Lee The wash of White on the runway continued with with Designer Katie Lee 's Bridal Gowns. Ivory, Milky Whites to even Lacy Blacks took centre stage.Yes, Black Bridal Gowns !!! Clearly for the Bride who wants to make a statement. She had paired the gowns on her models, with hair jewelry very similar to Indian Bridal jewelry. It seemed very apt the way she had brought bridal elements of two different cultures so beautifully together. |

Lucia's Sarto |
Lucia's Sarto Designer Heidi Hermann brought Kansas City to the forefront with her collection. She had partnered with hat designer Amina Marie Millinery to pair each of her dresses with custom created head gear. Iconic KC landmarks like the Western Auto sign and the Shuttlecocks featured in prints in her fabrics. Not to forget that the outfits themselves were pretty darn good themselves. |
Heidi Hermann House of Cochon's collection of accessories were inspired by Indian Mandala Jewelry . Paired with flowing white gowns and prominent Bindis , the models sashayed on the runway to the subtle notes of the Sitar on Indian Classical Music Notes. |

It was time for the Finale. Last but not the least, Designer Alicia Janesko brought in the finale of this season with the loudest bang in town. Designer Sister duo Alicia and Jennifer Janesko clearly know how to make a statement. Alicia's Caftans in shades of blacks and grays crafted from fabric hand painted by Jennifer and paired with accessories by Jennifer, it was a fitting finale. While we all waited for the finale designer to make an appearance she had a fun show stopper. She brought in rapper Kemet Dumas Coleman as a finishing act.
Stay tuned for a detailed Interview with Designer Alicia Janesko in an upcoming post.
A wonderful few day of Fashion and Fun came to an end. It was so great to meet old friends and make new ones and have a great time in every possible way. Sharing notes with bloggers, learning tricks from photographers and so much more. I simply can't wait for next season !!!
